MEET RICK TRAGIC
Meet Rick Tragic as the new clown Magic Zero, He’s so fantastic as our big drastic Hero He’s quick to depict his great collection of words, On pop-culture, the media and everything absurd
Let’s take a closer glimpse at this terrible stain, He’s so lyrical and lucid, yet somehow strange A vertigo reality transcending every thought, Disturbing the duality of the Haves and Have-nots
On the precipice of genius beyond mere glam, Beyond boring readings and the art of the Slam His poetic performances eclipse simple magic, An occasion for Abrasion that’s so uniquely Rick Tragic
Onstage he doesn’t show us life he simply creates it Such a primal poet, enchanting and sacred He’s dark, he’s mysterious, witness his descent Listen up, give him a chance, you’ll never want to repent!
POETIC MANIFESTO
Beyond speculation and extensions of hope, Beyond ancient splendor and flippant details, Beyond painting visions with silly little words, Poetry provides vibrancy and validates our lives
The Poet must reveal things misunderstood, It’s an art of pure enchantment, of conveying a mood Keeping the audience on edge; scared, yet enthralled An engaging proposition for all involved
We must develop the perceptions of our own greatness, For there is no formula for inspiration Skilled Poets attract the masses using fascination, Burning images on the listeners through utter Abrasion
Beyond speculation and extensions of hope, Beyond ancient splendor and flippant details, Beyond painting visions with silly little words, Poetry provides vibrancy and validates our lives
A simple invitation to elevate thought, With the help of our spectators we’ll begin to transcend Becoming the essence of a modern Shaman, One stirring performance can transform us into legends.
ASININE MACHINE
Once upon a time I wished upon a faded star, That maybe someday I’d finally be free But the obstinate stars merely defied me, Leaving me jaded by the Great Big Nothing
Trapped and imprisoned in the turf of my birth, This pro-elitist city won’t let me leave I played their youth sports even went to their church, All I ever wanted was a simple opportunity
So I spent my whole life filling up my resume, Had a decent GPA even lead a fraternity I graduated from a respected University Yet the stoic, rich job-havers still won’t hire me
My ethnic name always lands the interview, Just a lame corporate game to pass their EEO review It gets me in the door but it’s an intricate joke, They’ve already hired their puppet, I’m just more paperwork
I hope you enjoy your condo and your shiny SUV, Custom crap in your lap, sweet surround sound, plasma-screen With a loving family, such a stranger to suffering You’re a card-carrying member of the Plastic Sheep
I’m still unemployed, I owe forty student loan G’s Owning a house or a new car is beyond my fantasies I’ve been locked out of their mighty Asinine Machine, Tragically ensnared in this drastic complexity
Now I’m the stupid, putrid, Poet of Poverty, Lashing out at society for my misery I never wanted a damn promise, I just needed a chance Thanks a helluva lot for f***ing me up the a**!
